Music is better when you don't do it alone.
ABOUT THE EVENING
For two years, Desert Youth Voices has been proving that. Students from across the Antelope Valley, from Palmdale School District, Westside Union School District, Antelope Valley Union High School District, and Antelope Valley College, have been showing up, singing together, and building a community that extends well beyond any single rehearsal or performance.
On April 23, we celebrate what they've made.
The program features performances by Desert Youth Voices alongside guest singers from The Sunday Night Singers, bringing together youth voices and adult mentors in the spirit of collaboration that has defined this ensemble from the beginning.
The evening also marks the world premiere of "As I Bloom in the Rain," a newly commissioned work by composer Brian Quan. The piece was written in direct partnership with the students, shaped by their own reflections on what it means to find community, to belong somewhere, and to grow alongside other people. It is, in the most literal sense, their story told in music.
Following the performance, all guests are invited to stay for a light reception and celebrate with the singers, their families, and the staff/volunteers who helped shape this milestone year.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT
Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Because seating is limited, we ask that all guests reserve in advance so we can make sure there is room for you.
SUPPORT THIS WORK
DYV Music Exchange is funded by Chorus America's Music Education Partnerships Grants, with additional support from the Find Your Light Foundation. Desert Youth Voices is free because we believe it should be. If you'd like to help us keep it that way, you can support the program with a gift of any size.
